James was listening to ‘Lose Control’ by Silk while driving around. It’d be quite the experience to be driving down a road and see LeBron by himself driving and relaxing. He clearly needed some time to himself after the Lakers got swept in their season series with the Sacramento Kings last night.
James likely wasn’t proud of his performance despite accumulating a pretty impressive statline. He ended the night with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. The near triple-double can be a little deceiving, as James’ poor defense allowed Harrison Barnes to go off for 23 points and win the Kings the game.
In addition, James look disengaged until the fourth quarter but by then, it was too little too late for James to revitalize the squad into making a comeback.
LeBron James Had A Candid Reaction To The Loss
James made himself available for media after the game despite the tough loss which dropped the Lakers to 36-31 on the season. James gave credit to the Kings, praising them for having the edge on the Lakers this season.
“Offensively, we just couldn’t get it going and they did. Really good team, they have our number this year, for sure.”
James also opened up on the Lakers’ inability to break into the game as the Kings maximized opportunities off turnovers and offensive rebounds.
“When you stop an offensive team like that and they get a second chance on a kick-out, those are the ones that are kinda demoralizing. When you play 24 seconds of great defense, the ball bounces off the rim, and they get the offensive rebound to hit a three. Those are the ones that kill you.”
The Lakers did have strong defensive moments during the game but it wasn’t consistent enough for it to impact the game. LeBron should take individual accountability for his lackluster performance as well. Even though it is mind-boggling that a 18-13-9 game for someone in Year 21 is a bad game, but James has set a different standard by which he wants to be judged.
If he wants to be the best player on a championship team, he has to continue facing the scrutiny that he has for most of his career. We’ve seen James play at a far higher level than this as well, averaging 25.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 8.0 assists over the season.
