No one could have predicted just how bad the Los Angeles Lakers would have been at the start of the NBA season. When the Lakers assembled their roster, many expected them to be the favorites to win the NBA championship. But they haven’t played anywhere close to that level, with even some of the weakest teams in the NBA having their way with the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James spoke after the Lakers’ latest loss to the Houston Rockets. James noted that they have had very little room for mistakes, and every small and big mistake they make is punished by opposing teams on a nightly basis. James concluded that the Lakers have a very small margin for error this season (3:16 onwards).

“We just don’t have a lot of room for error. We make a mistake or we break down defensively or we don’t get a good look at the basket, teams are literally making us pay every time. It’s not like we’re getting away with things. It’s just that simple. We have a very small margin of error this year and teams are making us pay.”

LeBron also spoke about his own poor performance on the night. James had a 23-point triple-double, but had a very poor shooting night, making only 9 of his 26 attempted shots. James explained what went wrong on the night and promised that he would be better during the Lakers’ next game against the Washington Wizards.

With each game that goes by, the Lakers are running out of time to figure things out. They are dangerously close to missing the NBA playoffs this season. Given the players they have at their disposal, this would be unacceptable. No team with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook available for most of the season should be missing the playoffs and losing the way the Lakers are.
