LeBron James Gave Sage Advice To Lakers Roster For Final Play In Win Against The Wizards

The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a much-needed win over the Washington Wizards. Though the Wizards had come into the game 1-12 in their last 13, they gave the Lakers a real fight for the win. Thomas Bryant scored the game-winning dunk to seal the deal for the Lakers.

Naturally, the ball was in LeBron James’s hands as the Lakers came out of a timeout tied at 117 with 22 seconds left. James nearly turned the ball over but managed to recover and find Bryant for the wide-open dunk. James revealed he told the team that the Wizards were going to trap him on the perimeter and leave guys open, so they need to make themselves available.

"Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good."

“I said it in the huddle that they’re going to trap me, so make yourselves available. Be patient because we want the last shot. It was still close to the last shot because they had no timeouts left. They did exactly what I thought, but I gotta do a better job of making that pass. But I quickly recovered.”

LeBron nearly blew that possession but his recovery was quite impressive and the under-pressure pass to Bryant was crucial to seal the game as well.

How Far Can LeBron James Carry The Lakers?

The Los Angeles Lakers are 13-16 after this win, still a ways behind the Western Conference playoff race. With Anthony Davis now being ruled out for the next month, the Lakers will have an incredibly hard time bringing themselves into the play-in race without AD, given the inconsistency we have seen from the roster so far.

James is turning 38 this month and has evidently slowed down. He can’t be expected to repeat his heroics from last season that nearly secured him the scoring title. The Lakers need to make a trade to add depth behind LBJ and AD, but they’re now likely to stand pat until the end of the season and hope next year is better.
