Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade is about to get recognized for nearly two decades of excellence in the NBA. In just a few days, Wade will join an exclusive club of superstars as a legitimate the Hall of Famer.

It’s no surprise that Wade has been talking up the big day online and to the media, but the latest buzz came from his former teammate LeBron James. Commenting in a post dedicated to the occasion, LeBron congratulated his friend on a fantastic career.

“YESSIR!!!!! HEAT NATION STAND UP!! STANDING OVATION !!!! CONGRATULATIONS @DwyaneWade LOVE YOU BROTHER!!”

Wade, a 13x All-Star, is akin to royalty in Miami. After getting drafted to the Heat in 2003, he blossomed into a superstar and won his first title with Shaq three years later. By the time LeBron and Bosh arrived in 2010, Wade had established himself as the leader of the franchise, and he was considered by many to be right on the level as Kobe.

Amazingly, he took a step back to form the infamous superteam, and it’s what helped them reach the pinnacle of their success during the two-peat in 2012 and 2013.

Is Wade The Greatest Heat Player Ever?

Even today, despite LeBron’s status as one of the all-time greats, it’s Wade who is often mentioned as the greatest player in Heat history. It was in Miami, after all, that Wade first embraced ‘Heat culture’ and helped instill the traditions they still practice today.

According to Pat Riley himself, Wade is the greatest Heat player ever just based on his total body of work: “Dwyane is the greatest player who ever played for the Heat,” said Pat Riley. “That’s not an insult to LeBron, that’s because of his longevity and the short term that LeBron was here.”

Looking back, there’s no questioning Wade’s importance to the franchise. He gave everything to them, and it resulted in some amazing victories.

Now that it’s time to celebrate those victories, LeBron is making it a point to be there in support of his friend and to cheer him on every step of the way.
