LeBron James On Retirement: “I’m Still Playing At Such A High Level, I Haven’t Given It Much Thought.”

LeBron James is a basketball player that is well-known for his longevity on the basketball court, and there’s no doubt that he’s had a productive career. Even in year 19, he is still playing at a superstar level.

However, there comes a time when every player must retire, and the same is true for LeBron James. After all, even if he is one of the best players in the league, that will not last forever.

LeBron James has recently made a statement on retirement and acknowledged that he is on the “other side of the hill” and that he’d be OK when retirement comes for him. However, he also stated that he is “still playing at such a high level”, so he hasn’t “given it too much thought”.

“I know I’m on the other side of the hill, compared to the hill I was on before. I know that. But, I mean, I’ve thought about it — where I’m at with it. I’m still playing at such a high level, I haven’t given it too much thought. But I’m in Year 19 and I’m not gonna do another 19. So I’m definitely not halfway in my career. I’m on the other side of the hill. So, we’ll see where the game takes me. We’ll see where my body takes me and my mind. As long as my mind stays fresh and my body stays with that, I can play the game. But, in the end, the game will tell you. Your body will tell you. Your mind will tell you. I’ve put in enough hours and punched enough clocks where, when that time comes, I’ll be OK with it.”

There is no question that LeBron James isn’t close to having to retire. He is currently averaging 27.4 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 6.5 APG, which is amazing production for someone who is nearing his 37th birthday.

Some have already stated that we should appreciate LeBron James before he ends up retiring, and that is a fair statement to make. LeBron James is a generational talent who is one of the best players to ever play, and hopefully we are able to see him for a few more years before he hangs it up.
