Kyrie Irving shocked the basketball world with one of the most incredible shots that we have seen for quite some time on Sunday. Irving hit a game-winning hook shot against the Denver Nuggets at the buzzer with his left hand, and LeBron James took to Instagram to react to it.

That really was an insane shot and there aren’t too many players in the NBA who could have pulled it off with their offhand. It is just yet another indicator of how skilled Irving is.
LeBron saw that first-hand when they were teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers and it is always great to see the 39-year-old show his appreciation for Irving’s wizardry on the court. Just last month, James tipped his cap to Kyrie for his insane layup against the Suns.
Irving hitting the shot meant the Mavericks won 107-105 to improve to 39-29 on the season. The 31-year-old would end the night with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, and a block.
Magic Johnson, Damian Lillard, And Luka Doncic Also Reacted To Irving’s Incredible Shot
To say Magic Johnson was impressed by Irving’s shot might be an understatement. Johnson took to X to state it might have been the greatest left-handed game-winner he had ever seen.
“I jumped off my couch screaming after Kyrie’s game-winning shot from behind the free throw line for the Mavericks over the reigning champs Nuggets!! It’s one of the greatest, if not the greatest, left-hand game-winning shot I’ve ever seen.”
Johnson has seen a whole lot of basketball over the years, so that is saying something. Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard, meanwhile, had even higher praise for Irving. Lillard stated on X that Kyrie is the most skilled player ever.
“Kyrie the most skilled mf ever bra…”
Earlier this year, Kevin Durant also called Irving the most skilled player in NBA history. The eight-time All-Star is certainly making a strong case for that title. Lastly, we get to Irving’s teammate, Luka Doncic, who stated that people might not know just how difficult that shot was.
“Unbelievable, man,” Doncic said when asked about the shot. “I don’t think people realize how tough of a shot that is — with the off-hand, like even to have a chance… I don’t think people realize how tough that shot is.”
(starts at 21:58 mark):
When Johnson, Lillard, and Doncic react in this manner, you know just how special of a shot that was. The most impressive part of it for me, has to be that he hit it over Nikola Jokic, who is 6’11”.
Kyrie Irving On Playing While Observing Ramadan
Irving also pulled that off despite not having had anything to eat or drink since dawn, as he is observing Ramadan. After the game, Kyrie spoke about playing without eating or drinking during Ramadan.
“Ramadan is a special month, so it’s a special time. And yeah, it’s just you try not to think about the suffering too much and really focus on the journey with God and the path that you’re on. And just stay focused on that and stay disciplined.”
“It’s a difficult journey and to be able to play 48 minutes and not do it with having a drink or any food in my stomach is nothing short of a miracle. So there’s definitely a universal God out there that’s protecting me and I got to give credit to him.”
It is a testament to Irving’s commitment to his faith that he chooses to fast during the season. He has done so ever since he converted to Islam in 2021 and expect him to continue doing so for the rest of his career.
