LeBron James did it all in the fourth quarter for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. James scored or assisted 23 of the Lakers’ 25 points in the period and took to Instagram to react to his heroics, which meant the Lakers came away with a 107-95 win.
“Just trying to do my part!”

I’d say he was more than doing his part in the period and you can check out just how he went about doing it.
The Lakers had just not been able to put away the Blazers for much of the night and things could have gotten quite tricky had LeBron not taken over. He ended up with 7 points and 7 assists in the fourth quarter and for the night, had 35 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals.
The only points that James did not directly account for came from Cam Reddish, who made a two-pointer to put the Lakers up 99-83 with just under seven minutes left. LeBron had put the game beyond reach by then and with this win, the Lakers improved to 7-6 on the season and a league-best 3-0 in the In-Season Tournament.
While we marvel at the fact that the 38-year-old is still doing this in his 21st season, the rest of his team really needs to step up. Coming into this 2023-24 campaign, many felt James would not have a big load on his shoulders with how deep the Lakers were, but some of the role players haven’t played up to expectations so far.
LeBron James’ Incredible 2023-24 Season Thus Far
James is in the midst of another incredible season and you struggle to comprehend how he can continue to play at such a high level. The 19-time All-Star is averaging 25.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game while shooting 57.2% from the field and 39.7% from beyond the arc.
It’s not just that he’s putting up big numbers on a consistent basis, but he has been remarkably efficient while doing so. With Anthony Davis being inconsistent on offense and Austin Reaves having had a mixed start to the season, the onus has again been on James to run the show, and he’s done just that.
LeBron James Has Revenge On His Mind
By far the biggest and most embarrassing defeat of this season for the Lakers came on November 8, as the Houston Rockets blew them out 128-94. The history between James and Dillon Brooks made that loss sting just that little bit more and LeBron now wants revenge on the Rockets.
“We have a game on Sunday versus Houston, who did a number on us in their place not too long ago, so we look forward to that matchup,” said James after the game.
The Lakers and Rockets will clash on Sunday night in Los Angeles and there will be one big difference from their last meeting. Davis had missed that clash due to injury and with him in the lineup for this one, expect the Lakers to get the win.
While Davis’ offense has been up and down, he has been spectacular on defense and the Lakers collapse on that end of the floor when he’s out. Ensuring that he and James stay upright is once again going to be key to the Lakers’ success.
