With the basketball world on pause, it’s a weird time for the NBA community. After Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus, the league suspended all play indefinitely. And while the intent was for the season to continue sometime later this year, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that action will resume at all before the fall.
Amid the hiatus, Lakers superstar LeBron James sent a heartfelt message to the fans to remind them just how much he missed putting on his Lakers jersey every day.
#LakerNation I miss y’all so so much and putting on that uniform every night along with my brothers!!! 💜💛💜💛💜💛💜💛👑 https://t.co/Go6Ywx3hSP

Sports are usually a way for people to escape the hustle and bustle of life. Without it, many within the NBA community are struggling to find ways to take their minds off this COVID-19 pandemic.
For LeBron and the Lakers specifically, they were on an impressive stretch before the season got put on life support. L.A. had won 13 of their last 16 games dating back to the start of February, including wins against the Clippers and Bucks.
LeBron was second in the MVP race and was making up ground in the weeks leading up to the outbreak. This season, at 35-years-old, he was averaging 25.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 10.6 assists per game on 49% shooting.

It certainly seems like the Lakers were headed in the right direction before all of this got started and who knows what would have happened had they been given the chance to close it out.
