A lot has been said about LeBron James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers, as the King has been sending confusing messages on social media and talking to the media, which made a lot of fans think he’s getting frustrated with the direction the team has taken.
Nothing has been announced yet, but many around the league think the 4x NBA champion could be leaving the Los Angeles Lakers during the summer if they don’t make a trade soon. The Purple and Gold have been trying to at least reach the .500 mark this campaign, but every time they’re close to it, something bad happens.
Now without Anthony Davis, the job appears to be harder to complete for them, but LeBron and co. have replied the best way. The Lakers are on the right track, and even without AD, they’ve shown they can win games. Still, the situation doesn’t look that promising for them, especially after James made some concerning comments to a reporter.
LeBron James Is Not Planning On Leaving The Los Angeles Lakers
LeBron clarified that he’s fine with the Lakers and not frustrated as the report claimed. Still, the King has been the subject of trade rumors and other predictions that could become true this year.
Now, Zach Lowe of ESPN has put water on this fire, claiming that LeBron plans to stay with the Lakers for the rest of his career and retire with the Purple and Gold in a couple of years.
“I keep hearing he wants to stay with the Lakers,” Lowe said, via Lakers Daily. “He wants to finish his career with the Lakers. His comments though should be interpreted as his patience is not infinite and if this is just a continued morass of losing, maybe that changes. But if you force me to bet, I’d still bet on him finishing his career with the Lakers. And I’d feel pretty confident in that.”
James is still playing at a great level, which draws attention to him. The Lakers are well aware of that, but nothing points out that they will trade the player unless he directly asks for it.
This is a complex situation for everybody at Crypto.com Arena, and we won’t know the outcome of it until the offseason.
