The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most iconic franchises in the history of the NBA. The Lakers are tied with the Boston Celtics for most NBA titles won by a franchise. They both have 17 NBA Championships banners hanging in the rafter.
So it is obvious that the Lakers are an extremely successful team. But what makes the team successful? Sure, the management and coaching staff plays a role. However, without great players, a team can never be successful in the biggest basketball league in the world.
Evidently, over the course of the Lakers’ history in the league, they have had some pretty big names don the iconic Purple and Gold jersey. From Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, and the biggest icon of them all, Kobe Bryant, all have played for the Lakers.
Speaking of Kobe Bryant, the Mamba passed away from the world in 2020 as he was part of a tragic helicopter accident. Before leaving the world, Kobe had created such a great legacy that fans and NBA players still remember Kobe Bryant.
If he were alive, Bryant would have turned 44 years old yesterday. Despite his death, the NBA community celebrated as if he was alive and among them. Many wished Kobe a happy birthday using different ways on social media, and LeBron James was obviously a part of that too.
LBJ did so by posting a trailer for the upcoming episode of the new Lakers documentary titled “Legacy: The True Story of the L.A. Lakers.”
The documentary dives deep into the history of the Lakers and simultaneously focuses on the players that made the franchise great.
Keeping that in mind, the next episode will probably focus on none other than Kobe Bryant. It will be an emotional episode for fans and players alike. We can see a glimpse of it in the short clip shared by LeBron on his Instagram.
