Legendary Coach Mike Krzyzewski Is Retiring After 2021/22 Season

All things come to an end, even the good ones. Legendary Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski is retiring after the upcoming 2021/22 college basketball season. 

Labeled as one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time, ‘Coach K’ has won everything with Duke, creating a big legend around the basketball world. Krzyzewski turned 74 in February, after spending the last 41 years of his life with the Blue Devils. 

According to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, this upcoming season will be Krzyzewski’s last one on the sidelines. 

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski has decided to retire after this coming season, multiple sources told @stadium. Official announcement expected soon. The leading candidate to replace K is assistant and former Duke player Jon Scheyer.

Throughout his honored career, “Coach K” won five national championships (1991, 1992, 2001, 2010, and 2015), with the Blue Devils and 15 ACC Tournament championships, while recording 12 Final Four appearances.

Earlier this year, Roy Williams retired after 18 years with North Carolina, Duke’s biggest rivals in college basketball. 

As stated above, everything comes to an end, and this isn’t the exception. Coach K had a great career; he helped plenty of college players and established stars in Team USA. That tells you how great this man was at his job.
