The Los Angeles Lakers have been mentioned in several trade rumors in recent times as they keep trying to improve their roster. After they started showing signs of improvement, Anthony Davis went down with an injury, and his comeback is not happening until a few weeks.

The Purple and Gold have been linked with big players recently, including Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, and Damian Lillard, but also other stars more getable, like DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic, and even Zach LaVine

All these names sound really good for their fans, but none of this will happen if they don’t include at least one of their two first-round picks. The Lakers can only give their 2027 and 2029 first-rounder in trades, and some teams have shown interest in them.

Los Angeles Lakers Are Reportedly Against Trading Their Two First-Round Picks

Amid this bad situation, the team appears to be focused on the future and nothing else, and they will wait until next season to see what they can do with the roster and bring the best-supporting cast for Anthony Davis and LeBron James. If somebody thought they would make a trade involving these two picks, they were wrong.

“They obviously are not willing to trade the picks,” Howard Beck reported, via Lakers Daily. “And I’ve heard rumblings — and they’re only rumblings, so I don’t want people to go too far with this or go crazy with the aggregation — but a couple people around the league have told me in recent weeks that they believe that the front office has essentially been told not to trade the picks. That they’re guarding those.”

The Lakers hope to find a solution to all these problems next offseason, or perhaps moving Patrick Beverley or Kendrick Nunn will be the right path for them. It’s still unclear if they’ll wait to see what version of Anthony Davis returns to the court, but right now, the Lakers don’t have any plans of trading their picks. The front office has a big decision to make, and fans hope that it’s the same thing they want to see.
