The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the biggest stories of the 2022-23 NBA season, and not for the best reasons. The Purple and Gold started the season in a bad way, and even though they seemingly found their rhythm, things have gone wrong for them again, especially after Anthony Davis went down with a new injury.

With AD reportedly out at least until mid-January, the Lakers are in a big predicament. While the front office and, apparently, LeBron James wants them to make a move as soon as possible to keep their season alive.

However, the front office isn’t in a rush to make any moves, as they don’t consider that the trades out there are good enough for them. In recent weeks, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic were linked with the Purple and Gold. Now, they’re even considered a favorite to land Trae Young, but this is pure speculation.

Los Angeles Lakers Willing To ‘Ride Out’ This Season With Their Current Squad

Moreover, Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times reports that the Lakers are willing to spend the rest of the season with their current roster, as they’ve seen good things from this group of players and the coaching staff.

Internally, sources said, there’s been serious consideration given to riding out the season without making a major deal if they can’t find one that would make the team a realistic contender.

Thanks to Davis’ and James’ injuries, roster depth depleted from a deal for Russell Westbrook and a revolving supporting cast since his title with L.A., the Lakers’ level of competitiveness since winning the 2020 NBA championship has been uneven at best.

This season, while fully healthy, they went to Milwaukee and played a near-perfect game to beat the Bucks.

This is a tricky situation for the Lakers, and honestly, there’s no way the fans would approve of this. They’re already blasting Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss for the lack of moments within the roster. The Lakers need to do something before it’s too late, and LeBron James keeps sending them warnings about what could happen if they don’t move fast.
