Luka Doncic had a rather surprising answer when he was asked if he was keeping tabs on the MVP race.
The 23-year-old has been in stellar form for the Dallas Mavericks this season, averaging 34.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.7 assists. He’s been in the MVP chatter since the start of the season due to his stupendous run.
However, the guard said he preferred to keep his focus elsewhere instead of looking at the way the MVP race was shaping up. Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Dallas’ 127-117 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, Doncic said he would tune in to watch only a “really good NBA game.”
When asked about keeping tabs on the MVP race, Luka Doncic explained that he watches more EuroLeague than NBA games: “Not really. I watch some NBA games, but I watch more EuroLeague than NBA. But if it is a really good NBA game on TV, I will watch it.” pic.twitter.com/mAEmY25Bdl

Doncic has been the driving force for the Mavericks this season, and his 34 points, 10 rebounds, and as many assists against the Pelicans was his ninth triple-double of the season.
Luka Doncic Gets Real On Breaking LeBron James’ Scoring Record
Luka Doncic was one of the players whose insane production this season garnered the buzz on whether he could beat LeBron James, who is well on his way to surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the leading scorer in the NBA.
On his part, Doncic was candid when he said he wouldn’t be in the league for 20 years but didn’t rule out the possibility of getting there.
Mavs' @luka7doncic doesn't anticipate playing 20-plus yrs to catch @kingsJames.
"It's always a possibility, but it's going to be really tough. You gotta have a guy that plays for 20yrs… If you're saying me there's no way [cuz] i'm not playing that much."#MFFL #LakeShow pic.twitter.com/gPphA5I7mt

“No way in hell… It’s always a possibility, but it’s going to be really tough. You gotta have a guy that plays for 20yrs in that shape, how he holds up his body. I am just saying without basketball skills, it’s very hard to hold that body. If you’re saying me there’s no way because I’m not playing that much. It’s amazing to watch him. It’s his 20th season and he’s scoring 30-40 points every night.”
On the season front, the Mavericks are bonafide playoff contenders this season and are placed fourth in the West with a 23-17 record. Much of their hopes ride on Doncic and his splendid form if they intend to go the full distance. They play the Oklahoma City Thunder next.
