Luka Doncic was clearly frustrated with the officials during Game 6 between the Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder, and one incident from that contest has gone viral on social media. In the second quarter, Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault was arguing a call when Doncic appeared to tell him that the officials wanted a Game 7.

“They want a game 7 for you guys.”

Doncic had a few run-ins with the referees in this game. He got a technical foul earlier in the quarter for complaining about a call.

Another technical would have seen him get ejected and I did worry at times in this game that he was going to get tossed. Ultimately, that didn’t happen. Later on in the game, Doncic had a hilarious interaction with referee Tony Brothers too where he could be seen telling him that he wanted no trouble.

As for the officiating in this game, there were some calls that went against the Mavericks. That didn’t stop them from getting the win and advancing to the Western Conference Finals, though.

The Mavericks won a thriller of a contest here, as they beat the Thunder 117-116 to win the series 4-2. As always, Doncic played a big role in Dallas getting over the line, as he recorded 29 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 2 steals. The 25-year-old has struggled at times in these playoffs, as he is playing through multiple injuries, but he came through for his team here.

Tim Hardaway Sr. Called Out Luka Doncic For Constantly Complaining To The Officials

Doncic complaining to the referees is nothing new, of course. We have seen him do it a whole lot over time and not everyone is too happy about that. Tim Hardaway Sr. shared a harsh take on Doncic’s constant complaints to the referees.

“I have seen Luka from when the ball is thrown up and then for 48 minutes, the whole time, he talks to the referee. LeBron doesn’t do that! Luka does it for a whole game. That’s what fans, players, and other teams are upset about because he gets to talk to the referee the entire time, and they can’t.”

“A lot of people like him less, because that’s all he does.”

Tim Hardaway Jr. is a teammate of Doncic’s, but that doesn’t stop his father from being critical of the Slovenian. The Hall of Famer is always going to speak his mind and he did have a point. We didn’t see Doncic do a lot of complaining in Game 5, though, and when he was asked about that postgame, the five-time All-Star said he just focused on the game.

“I just tried to play basketball. Just focus on basketball. Sometimes I forget this is the thing I love, this is the thing I do. My mental focus was to just go out there and play basketball, you know? With a smile on my face, and just go.”

That is the mindset that you’d want Doncic to have in every game. There will almost always be some calls that go against your team, but you can’t let that get to your head. When Doncic just focuses on the game and plays with a smile on his face, his opponents know they’re in trouble.
