The Boston Celtics have made some solid moves thus far this season, managing to acquire Josh Richardson from the Dallas Mavericks, and getting Dennis Schroder at the mid-level exception. There’s no doubt that Brad Stevens’ moves have been solid, and it looks as if he has made another step in the right direction.

NBA insider Shams Charania has recently revealed that the Boston Celtics have agreed to a contract extension with guard Marcus Smart, who is one of the best perimeter defenders in the game. The extension will be for the duration of four years, and Marcus Smart will earn $77.1 million over those four years.

Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has agreed to a four-year, $77.1 million max contract extension with the franchise, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The fully guaranteed deal through 2025-26 includes a trade kicker.

Marcus Smart is the heart and soul for the Boston Celtics, and we all know that he’ll leave everything on the court to try and win the game. He is also a solid facilitator who can set up his teammates. There is no question that he is crucial to the success of the Boston Celtics, and he was part of the reason that the team managed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals multiple times over the last few years.

The Boston Celtics look like they could be a dangerous team. Only time will tell if they end up as part of the heavyweights of the Eastern Conference, though with Marcus Smart locked up under contract, it looks as though they’re ready to try and compete next season.
