Joe Mazzulla has done a great job of keeping the Boston Celtics competitive this season after Ime Udoka’s controversial exit.
The Boston Celtics are currently tied at 1-1 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. Mazzulla’s Celtics dominated the 76ers in Game 2, winning it by a margin of 34 points. But what’s so special about his offense? Well, as per Marcus Smart, the sheer randomness of it is the answer.
“Literally,” Smart told Jay King of The Athletic, “the majority of the offense is random.”
Mazulla was initially named the interim coach of the team, but after doing an impressive job, he was offered a permanent position by the Celtics.
Considering Mazzulla is just 34 years old, he still has the potential to improve his strategies as a coach of one of the best teams in the league. For now, his random offense seems to be getting the job done for the iconic franchise.
Boston Celtics Blew Out The 76ers In Game 2
The Boston Celtics finished the 2022-23 NBA season as the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 57-25 record. Evidently, expectations are high from the team.
So the NBA community was surprised when Boston was defeated in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. But instead of panicking, the Celtics destroyed the 76ers in the second game of the series.
The final score was 121-87 in favor of the Celtics. Jaylen Brown deserves a lot of credit for the blowout win, as he recorded 25 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists in 30 minutes of playing time.
Apart from Brown, Malcolm Brogdon had 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists from the bench. Marcus Smart also contributed 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists in the win.
The series is tied at 1-1 now, and the Celtics will hope to continue their great form in Game 3 vs. Joel Embiid and the 76ers.
It will be exciting to see which team takes the lead after splitting the first two games evenly.
