Following the Dallas Mavericks’ first-round elimination against the Los Angeles Clippers, the NBA community started wondering about Rick Carlisle’s future with the franchise.
The head coach has been with the team since 2008, taking them to the NBA championship in 2011 after a magical run. Unfortunately, they won’t be able to replicate that success this year after the elimination, but Carlisle is confident things will get better for the team next season.
Mark Cuban thinks the same, and he made it clear that the team won’t move the former Boston Celtics player and look for a new helmsman.
“Let me tell you how I look at coaching. You don’t make a change to make a change. Unless you have someone that you know is much, much, much better, the grass is rarely greener on the other side,” he said, via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

There aren’t many candidates out there that can be better at their job than the 61-year-old. Carlisle demonstrated against the Clippers that he’s a terrific coach. His adjustments always put the rival team in trouble, which was one reason why they were able to win three games as visitors.
Of course, they failed to finish the job at home, but this team looked like Luka Doncic and four other guys. In the end, the Slovenian player was alone; nobody helped him, and the Clippers took advantage of that.
Dallas needs to make some changes during the offseason, that’s right. However, Carlisle isn’t one of them.
