Max Kellerman Says Stephen Curry Is The MVP And The Warriors Will Dominate When Klay Thompson Returns

The Golden State Warriors are undoubtedly the best team in the NBA right now, and they will only get better as we anticipate the return of Klay Thompson and James Wiseman.

It has been a record-breaking campaign so far for the Warriors veteran guard, who set a new all-time three-point record a few days ago at Madison Square Garden. Moving forward, Steph sets a new record every time he drains a three-pointer.

The MVP race has been intriguing so far this season. Although Steph and the Brooklyn Nets Kevin Durant are the frontrunners, arguments have been made for Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Even with these varying opinions, ESPN’s Max Kellerman believes Steph is the MVP and that the Warriors will continue to dominate with Thompson’s return.

Klay has not played in the NBA for two seasons after suffering an ACL tear and hurting his Achilles. But the thought of the Splash Brothers reuniting has been a welcome development, especially for the Warriors fans.

In a conversation with Brian Windhorst on This Just In, Kellerman pointed out that Steph is the favorite to win the MVP, and Brian buttressed his point. He talked about a recent poll that was made which gave Steph 94 votes for MVP ahead of Durant’s 2 and Jokic’s 0.

“We just had one week ago, Tim Bontemps, putting out his straw poll. He talked to 100 voters. Not 100 guys on the street, not 100 people in his phone. 100 voters in 28 markets and across the world, the people that actually vote, and it wasn’t even a discussion. Steph got 94 of the 100 votes, Durant got 2, Jokic got none. This is the biggest landslide we have seen in the modern era at this point in the season.”

Although Steph is not scoring at the same clip he did last season, his improvement in defense has also been a factor for his consideration. And while the Durant-led Nets also sit atop of the Eastern Conference standings, they do not have as dominant a record as the Warriors.
