Luka Doncic is easily one of the best players in the world right now and he is proving it with every game he plays at the 2022 EuroBasket. Doncic had a sensational 47-point night against the French national team led by Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier and is gearing up for the knockout stages of the tournament.

As he has been killing it in Europe, people in America are keeping an eye out for him. His skill level is incredibly scary for opponents as Doncic will look to put together an MVP campaign. Metta-Sandiford Artest, formerly known as Ron Artest, had previously spoken about what makes Doncic so special is primarily his intelligence.

“(Luka) is a smart player. He is definitely one of the smartest players I have ever seen… When I saw that he was drafted, I looked at some highlights. but I don’t spend enough time watching prospects to see if they’re going to be good enough to enter the league. Luka had a first big year, really really talented… His release and his patience and he got a big body and he can score with a lack of space. I think I would have had to be on my A-game to stop him.”

Is ‘Luka Ball’ Going To Be Unleashed In The 2022-23 Season?

The Dallas Mavericks saw their secondary ball-handler Jalen Brunson walk for nothing this offseason, a big blow to the team. However, the Mavericks chose to let Brunson walk away without signing a replacement guard to take his place. This means we may be in for a historic usage rate from Luka.

If Doncic is in shape and can start the season off strong, there is no reason to doubt his possible MVP campaign. He is far better than the roster the Mavericks have assembled around him and the success of the team will be solely dependent on how far he can take them.

Considering how EuroBasket has been going, the Mavericks should be encouraged after watching Doncic’s skill on the court. However, they should be wary of the wear and tear Luka will bring with him into the season. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and put on MVP performances to catapult the Mavericks deep into the playoffs.
