No one has come close to Michael Jordan in terms of the aura he had during his prime. He beat opponents before even getting on the court, and it led to 6 NBA Finals appearances without even having to go to a Game 7.

Michael Jordan‘s 6th championship has been the subject of a whole documentary, the Last Dance. And the way he led the Chicago Bulls to a win in the Finals remains iconic. And a remnant of that legendary performance has recently been put up for sale.

Michael Jordan's Shoes From The 1998 NBA Finals Could Be Sold For More Than $4 Million

CNN reported that the shoes Michael Jordan wore in Game 2 against the Utah Jazz in the 1998 Finals have been put up for auction: “Sotheby’s in New York will offer up the game-winning sneakers next month, for a high estimate of $4 million, with open bidding to take place online from April 3 to 11. The current record from 2021 — a pair of Nike Air Ships that Jordan wore early in his career — is $1.47 million, which marked the first time a set of sneakers sold for more than $1 million.”

If there is any basketball player or sports personality even, whose shoes can fetch a price like this, it is Michael Jordan. There may be a lot of things to suggest that other players have a GOAT case, but it’s Jordan’s aura and the value he brought to everything he touched that puts him on a different level. There is a reason that he has become a billionaire. His memorabilia has sold for a lot more than this too.

Michael Jordan’s 1998 NBA Finals Jersey Sold For More Than $10 Million

Michael Jordan used to set records when he was playing, he was one of the most elite scorers of all time. He continues to set records after retirement like he did when his jersey sold for over $10 million in 2022.

“A record-breaking day. Michael Jordan’s iconic 1998 NBA Finals ‘The Last Dance’ jersey has sold for $10.1 million, setting records for a basketball jersey, any game-worn sports memorabilia, and the most valuable Michael Jordan item ever sold at auction.”

If these shoes do sell for $4 million, they won’t even come close to the record for a Michael Jordan-worn item’s value. But they would be an amazing thing to own for whoever ends up buying them. Michael Jordan continues to make his presence as the greatest felt long after he retired as a player.
