The Milwaukee Bucks getting eliminated from the playoffs in the first round is one of the biggest disappointments of the season. After all, they were one of the favorites to represent the Eastern Conference in the 2023 NBA Finals.

The Bucks essentially lost Game 5 of the series due to a huge mistake made by head coach Mike Budenholzer and the players. In the final possession of the game, the Bucks failed to get up a shot with 10 seconds on the clock. On top of that, the team also had two timeouts left but didn’t use any.

It can be seen clearly in the video, the Bucks had Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday on the floor. But the ball was in the hands of Grayson Allen’s hands during the final few seconds of the game.

As for not calling a timeout, it has to be one of the biggest brain farts by a team like the Bucks during a clutch moment.

“Bucks left a timeout on the board at the end of regulation and two timeouts on the board at the end of overtime. Just unconscionable.”

The final score after overtime was 128-126 in favor of the Miami Heat as they advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals and will face off against the New York Knicks. On the other hand, the Bucks will have to tolerate a lot of trolling from the media and fans over the next few weeks.

Mike Budenholzer Agrees That The 2022-23 NBA Season Was A Failure For The Bucks

Being the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, the expectations were at an all-time high for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Since the team got eliminated in the opening round of the postseason, this season is being labeled as a massive failure for the team. Giannis Antetokounmpo shockingly disagreed with that assessment. He even went off at a reporter for asking this question to him.

But his head coach, Mike Budenholzer, not only understood the question, but he also answered it in a calming manner while agreeing to the fact of the matter.

“I respect the question. I understand the question. This team has incredibly high expectations,” Budenholzer said. “We’re disappointed. We’re frustrated. It hurts. But I said it all year, we love this team. We love these guys. I believe in them. We believe in them. We didn’t get it done tonight. But to me, just disappointed, hurt, frustrated, I think is more characteristic of how we feel about tonight.”

Sure, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s injury played a role in the Bucks’ elimination from the postseason. At the end of the day, they have no one but themselves to blame for it.

If they had gathered themselves during the final 10 seconds of overtime by taking a timeout and drawing up a creative play, the end result could have been different. What’s done is done, and the Bucks should try to learn a lesson from this year’s mistakes and hope to make a comeback next season.
