Fans of NBA 2K got a massive update over the future of the gaming franchise, as the new covers for the game were revealed. The NBA 2K account had been teasing a reveal over the last week, with them showing a blurred silhouette of an NBA star in a recent post. And now, we know the stars that will grace the cover of the popular gaming franchise.

The main cover athlete of NBA 2K22 is none other than Dallas Mavericks All-Star Luka Doncic. Doncic has been one of the fastest-rising superstars in the NBA. Doncic has only been in the NBA for three seasons now, but has already been Rookie of the Year, a multiple-time All-Star, and made an All-NBA First Team. So his selection as the game’s cover star is only fitting.

For the special edition cover, 2K is paying homage to some of the all-time greats to play in the NBA. The cover celebrates the 75th anniversary of the NBA and features Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin Durant. These three players were era-defining stars for the league and changed the way fans and analysts looked at a big man in the NBA. For Kevin Durant, this is his second time as the cover star of the 2K Franchise. He was previously the cover star for NBA 2K15, back when he was the reigning MVP playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

And finally, the first female cover athlete of the NBA 2K series was unveiled, with it being none other than Candace Parker. Parker will be the cover star for another special edition of the game, that celebrated the 25th anniversary of the WNBA. The WNBA was only recently incorporated into the game, and so her inclusion comes as no surprise. Parker is one of the biggest stars in the WNBA, and one of its most recognizable faces. And so, she becomes a great choice to be the first female star to grace the game.
