LeBron James is trying to relive old glories with the Los Angeles Lakers this season, as the Purple and Gold had struggled to get things going. Ranking 13th in the Western Conference standings, the Lakers are still in the hunt for a playoff seed, which looks a little complicated right now.

During the almost five years he’s been on the Lakers, James has had more downs than ups, and people have criticized him a lot for that. In fact, former NFL player-turned-analyst Harry Douglas recently took a shot at James’ tenure with the team, calling it a ‘disaster’ for all the bad results he’s gotten there other than the 2020 bubble championship.

“Let’s just call it what it is. Outside of that bubble championship, LeBron being in LA has been a disaster. They missed the playoffs twice and got bounced in the first round once. If you take away that bubble championship, it has been a disaster. And now they’re the 13th seed. I’m not scared to say it, I’m calling a spade a spade.”

Just like Douglas criticized them, others around the league had said the same about James’ time with the Purple and Gold. He has underperformed most of his tenure with them, and even though he delivered a championship, many people consider it should have an asterisk next to it.

Los Angeles Lakers Look Like A Solid Team After All-Star Break

This season, however, things started badly for the Lakers again, but after the trade deadline struck, they look like a so much better team. The 17-time NBA champions made some interesting moves that put them in a good position, and their last two wins are proof of that, first beating the New Orleans Pelicans before the All-Star break and then dominating the Golden State Warriors in their first game back.

Lakers fans are enjoying this new-look Lakers, and LeBron is confident they can make some noise this campaign as long as they remain healthy. James knows the next games will be crucial for him and his team, and he’s ready to beat the competition on his way to the 2023 NBA playoffs.
