NBA Analyst Says The Miami Heat Would Be A Great Landing Spot For Trae Young

NBA Analyst thinks the Miami Heat would be a great landing spot for Trae Young because of Bam Adebayo and Heat culture.

Things seem to be headed downhill in a hurry for the Atlanta Hawks. There was a lot of optimism within the organization when they traded for Dejounte Murray in the offseason but most of that seems to have gone away at this point.

They are just 16-16 on the season and more worryingly, there are some murmurs now that Trae Young could request a trade if the team doesn’t perform in the postseason. There are also reports that head coach Nate McMillan as well as some of the other Hawks players do not like Trae and it really doesn’t seem like a great situation at present. Should the franchise make the bold call to trade away their star point guard, the Miami Heat have been put forward as a great landing spot for him by Sam Quinn of CBS.

via CBS:

“Young could be their primary ball-handler of the future. The theoretical fit with Bam Adebayo is nearly perfect. Young has played almost exclusively with lob threats at center. Adebayo’s basketball IQ, screening and passing makes him arguably the third-best dribble-handoff partner for a star guard in basketball… That sort of dance partner could expand Young’s horizons in the pick-and-roll. Adebayo is the sort of defender you’d need to cover for Young’s shortcomings. Heat culture would squeeze out every last meager drop of defensive potential he has.”

The Heat were on the lookout for some firepower in the offseason, as they were very much interested in trading for Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell. They know that they need a game-changer on that end of the court and Trae can be that for them. The fit with Bam Adebayo is great too as Quinn points out but the question is how much would the Heat be willing to part with for him.

Trae Young’s Father Calls Out The Media

There has been a lot of talk regarding Young’s potential landing spots but Kevin O’Connor wondered if teams would really want Trae. He pointed to Young showing no willingness to excel off the ball and his deficiencies on the defensive end, both of which are valid criticisms.

Trae’s father Ray Young responded to it by saying that his son isn’t looking to leave and that he wants to win in Atlanta. We tend to hear things like this even if players want to leave, so we won’t put too much stock into it. We’ll find out eventually what Young’s plans are but it seems like the Hawks are in for a rough season with all this uncertainty around the team.
