The NBA Draft is finally here and the big event started off with no surprises and the New Orleans Pelicans making the best possible use of the first overall pick of the night to land one of the most hyped players in recent times, Zion Williamson, considered the biggest franchise-changing player in recent years by many across the league.

As it was believed ever since the Pelicans earn the first overall selection in the draft a couple of weeks ago, they selected the University of Duke product, who will now have the responsibility to take his new team to be a competitive squad once again.

During his first and only year in college, Williamson posted 22.6 points per game, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks in 33 games played, all as a starter, for the Blue Devils. Zion was awarded the National College Basketball of the Year, was a consensus first-team All-American and the ACC Player of the Year among other honors.
