After pulling off a blockbuster trade featuring Kevin Durant last season, the Phoenix Suns strengthened their chances of title contention by landing Bradley Beal with a stunner move.

But one NBA fan roasted the trade, comparing it to the failed big three of Paris Saint-Germain’s trio of Neymar Jr., Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappe, saying the Suns won’t be winning anything significant.

To set the context, Messi joined PSG in 2021. Expectations of the club winning the Champions League after he linked up alongside Neymar and Mbappe were high. But despite their record signings, PSG has never won the coveted title, and the 2022-23 Champions League season was no different as they crashed out in the first-round knockouts.

Returning to the topic at hand, the NBA fan compared the failed experiment to the Suns, who, despite trading for Durant last season, lost to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.

With Beal in the Suns’ fold, their already potent offense is set to receive a massive boost, but fans were not convinced as they felt Beal’s addition still doesn’t guarantee Phoenix their maiden NBA title. Only time will tell if the trio of Durant, Beal, and Devin Booker can prove critics wrong.

All Eyes Will Be On The Phoenix Suns This Season

With their mammoth offseason move, the Suns will be the cynosure of all eyes when the 2023-24 season gets underway. The move to land Beal is more of an all-or-nothing approach by Phoenix, and should their star trio stay healthy, the Suns are bonafide title contenders.

For Beal, it’s a new start and another chance to win a championship. Earlier, reports suggested that he chose the Suns over the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, and the Sacramento Kings. It was a sensible choice, as the Suns have the offense and the necessary firepower to stake a claim for the championship.

The team retained the services of Deandre Ayton, meaning they can now boast of a big four on the same roster despite the new CBA rules that are in place to avoid this level of stacking. The pressure will surely be on the Suns, and it remains to be seen if they can soak it up and deliver.
