  • Over the past few years, forwards have asserted their dominance over the league
  • LeBron, Durant, and Giannis are some of the best forwards in the league today
  • NBA fans debate on who to ‘start, bench, cut’ between the three superstars

The NBA today is blessed with some of the greatest superstars that it has ever seen. But maybe none bigger than LeBron James, who is still among the best in the league at age 38. A few years ago, many were calling him the best in the world. But as he became older, another star came into the picture who took this title away.

That was none other than Kevin Durant, who won 2 Finals MVPs over LeBron James and put on a dazzling display for a few years. And again, a couple years later, another star came in and seemingly took this throne. That was Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who won 2 NBA MVP awards and a NBA Finals MVP award.

These three stars are still dominating the league, and each of them can make the case for the best in the world. But now, a Twitter post going around has asked the fans to choose who to ‘start, bench, cut’ among these three greats:

One fan chose to hail LeBron’s greatness for leading his team to the Western Conference Finals while dealing with an injury.

Another one said it wasn’t right LeBron was included in a list with Giannis and Durant, who aren’t the top 3 players ever.

One more fan ranked them in the order of the total number of championships won.

One fan called out LeBron and seemingly mocked his legacy while starting Giannis and benching Durant.

Another fan chose to start Giannis while benching Durant and cutting LeBron.

One fan based their rankings on the current stages of their career and choose Giannis to start as he is the youngest among the three and chose to cut LeBron, who is now 38 years old.

One fan called LeBron ‘Lefraud’ and cut him while choosing KD to start.

Another fan claimed this was an easy choice and they chose to start KD while benching LeBron and cutting Giannis.

Another one didn’t seem to care who started or was benched as long as Durant was cut.

One fan seems to have had enough of Durant forming superteams and he chose to cut him.

Many fans had different views but a majority of them wanted either LeBron or Durant to be cut.

LeBron James Vs. Kevin Durant

LeBron James and Kevin Durant have had several memorable matchups and battles on the basketball court throughout their careers. LeBron has averaged 27.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. Meanwhile, Durant has averaged 27.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.

One of the most significant battles between LeBron and Durant took place in the 2012 NBA Finals. LeBron, then with the Miami Heat, and Durant, with the Oklahoma City Thunder, faced off for the championship. The Heat ultimately defeated the Thunder in five games, with LeBron earning his first NBA championship and Finals MVP honors.

In 2017 and 2018, LeBron, now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, faced Durant, who had joined the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors won both of these Finals matchups, with Durant beating LeBron and being named the Finals MVP both times. These matchups added another layer of rivalry between the two players and their respective teams.
