- Stephen Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, Tim Duncan, and Hakeem Olajuwon are some of the true greats of the game
- NBA fans were asked who they would cut between the four of them
- Fans ended up being quite split on this topic
Stephen Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, Tim Duncan, and Hakeem Olajuwon led their teams to multiple championships and are all icons of the game. Cutting one player among them would be no easy task, but that’s exactly what NBA fans were asked to do, and they were split on the matter.
A fan chose Curry as he believes the Warriors star was never the bus driver.

One went with O’Neal and stated he’s the most overrated big man ever.

One believes this is disrespectful to Olajuwon, Duncan, and O’Neal, with Curry being the easy pick.

Let’s compare the careers of these four legends
Stephen Curry’s career stats: 24.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game
Shaquille O’Neal’s career stats: 23.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.6 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game
Tim Duncan’s career stats: 19.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.7 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game
Hakeem Olajuwon’s career stats: 21.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.7 steals, and 3.1 blocks per game
Stephen Curry’s accomplishments: 4x NBA champion, 1x Finals MVP, 2x MVP, 9x All-Star, 2x scoring champion, 4x All-NBA First Team, 4x All-NBA Second Team, 1x All-NBA Third Team, 1x steals leader
Shaquille O’Neal’s accomplishments: 4x NBA champion, 3x Finals MVP, 1x MVP, 15x All-Star, 2x scoring champion, 8x All-NBA First Team, 2x All-NBA Second Team, 4x All-NBA Third Team, 3x NBA All-Defensive Second Team
Tim Duncan’s accomplishments: 5x NBA champion, 3x Finals MVP, 2x MVP, 15x All-Star, 10x All-NBA First Team, 3x All-NBA Second Team, 2x All-NBA Third Team, 8x NBA All-Defensive First Team, 7x NBA All-Defensive Second Team
Hakeem Olajuwon’s accomplishments: 2x NBA champion, 2x Finals MVP, 1x MVP, 2x Defensive Player of the Year, 12x All-Star, 6x All-NBA First Team, 3x All-NBA Second Team, 3x All-NBA Third Team, 5x NBA All-Defensive First Team, 4x NBA All-Defensive Second Team, 2x rebounding leader, 3x blocks leader
If we just go by rings, then Olajuwon is the obvious choice to be cut, as he only won two championships.
Hakeem is the only one here, though, to have won DPOY, although you could certainly argue that Duncan deserved to win it at least once. Olajuwon also led the league in multiple categories on multiple occasions, something none of the other three did.
It is really hard to pick here but if I had to go with one, it’d be Curry. His impact on the offensive end cannot be understated, but on the defense, he comes up short compared to the other three, especially Olajuwon and Duncan.
The gap is closer to O’Neal, but if I had to pick between them at their peak, I’d go with Shaq. No one had an answer for him when he led the Los Angeles Lakers to that historic three-peat from 2000 to 2002, which gives him an edge over Curry.
