  • Team USA shockingly lost 110-104 against Lithuania at the FIBA World Cup on Sunday
  • Team USA were down 19 after the first quarter but couldn’t recover fast enough to win the game
  • NBA fans are roasting the Team USA roster for losing against Lithuania

Team USA is supposed to be the primary dominant force in basketball. Even when their best players don’t play, the expectation is that Team USA will not lose and will win the tournaments without dropping a single game.

Therefore, it was a massive upset that occurred at the 2023 FIBA World Cup in the Philippines, Team USA has lost against Lithuania with a score of 110-104.

The Team USA roster has been questioned before the tournament, but a lot of doubts were proven right during this game. And fans on social media have reacted in a ruthless fashion to the news.

One fan didn’t want to get into insulting the players or the team, he simply explained how Lithuania managed to win the game.

Players on Team USA have recently stirred up controversy after responding to Noah Lyles’ take that the NBA champions are not world champions. And fans are using that against them after their loss to Lithuania.

And that wasn’t the only fan to point it out either, another one shared the same exact sentiment.

A lot of Team USA members like Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges have received a lot of shine and hype recently. But one fan wanted to bring them and some others on the roster down to earth.

Team USA are through to the Final 8 of the competition already but this is an embarrassing loss for them nonetheless. The team will not be allowed to ignore this by fans, a lot of whom will use this result to troll them for a while to come.

Team USA Started The Game Off Too Slowly

Team USA began the game playing quite poorly, with Lithuania taking a 31-12 lead by the end of the first quarter. The gap remained at 17 points going into half-time as well.

Team USA made it a close game by having a big 28-17 third quarter, but ultimately Lithuania were able to hold on and get the epic win.

For Team USA, Anthony Edwards was the only player to truly ball out, scoring 35 points shooting 53.8% from the field and 38.6% from the three-point line.

Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges both pitched in with 14 points, but the likes of Austin Reaves and Jaren Jackson Jr. were quite underwhelming during the game. This result will be a bitter pill to swallow for the entire team.

Some NBA Fans Always Doubted This Roster

While everyone wants to see everyone else succeed in the world, Team USA’s success has been far from easy to predict for this tournament. The roster includes none of the country’s top players like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, or Jimmy Butler.

And while they were called naysayers when it first happened, many NBA fans did say that this roster would eventually not be able to get the job done. They have a chance to win the gold medal still, but this result shows the team is far from perfect.

Brandon Ingram hasn’t been doing too well on the team, and the pressure might be getting to some of the other players as well. They need to bounce back from this quickly or their haters mind up getting a lot of material to ridicule them with.
