News of James Harden potentially returning to the Houston Rockets has been doing the rounds, and had mixed responses from NBA fans.
Harden has been somewhat of a journeyman after his stint with the Rockets from 2012-2021. His first MVP season was with Houston in 2018, but the final years were rather drama-filled. With general manager Morey and head coach D’Antoni leaving the Rockets in the offseason, Harden demanded a trade in 2020 and reported to training camp late.
He was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in January 2021, but his stay was short-lived as he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers a year later. Safe to say, there was ample show biz even when he was a Net.
Now, rumor mills have been churning with Harden in focus again. ESPN’s Tim MacMahon shed light on “The Beard”s future saying Harden might just land back in Houston again.
“You know how the league works,” ESPN’s Tim MacMahon said. “There’s a lot of gossip. There’s a lot of dot-connecting, ‘Hey, if things don’t work out in Philly, James Harden back to Houston. Just keep an eye out on that.’”
Harden’s been producing at a decent rate for the Sixers averaging 21.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 10.3 assists this season. The team has looked good so far with an 18-12 record and placed fifth in the East.
NBA Fans React To James Harden’s Rumored Return To The Houston Rockets
Not all comeback stories are great, and that was pretty much the opinion the fans had when the news of Harden’s possible Rockets reunion made the headlines.
In his nine seasons with Houston, Harden averaged 29.6 points, 7.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game on 44% shooting. While he was a driving force, a return would also mean shaking up the currently rebuilding roster and adding the perfect pieces around the veteran.
The rockets would be dumb to bring him back 😂 https://t.co/BWq8o2m8Lp

I want nothing more, he would be the perfect guy to get the most out of our young guys and as much as I love KPJ I don't want him to be our PG in the playoffs. https://t.co/hSkuSaZae4

The Rockets have been struggling this season with a woeful 9-22 record and are at the bottom of the Western Conference Standings. For now, all of Harden’s focus will be on winning his maiden championship with the Sixers.
