As the clear-cut choice for the NBA’s top draft pick this year, Victor Wembanyama was practically already a star before he joined the San Antonio Spurs. As such, the NBA fanbase has been watching his every move, waiting for any signs of his superstar potential.

This weekend, amid the FIBA World Cup finals, Wembanyama sparked some conversation on social media for his latest offseason workout video. He was also seen sporting a brand-new hair color.

Overall, the video is nothing special and features just 19 seconds of Wemby stretching and contorting his body. What makes it so unique is Wembanyama’s ridiculous size. Standing at 7’4″, we’ve never seen a guy of his height have so much flexibility and physical autonomy.

Among the biggest concerns for fans is Wembanyama’s vulnerability to injury. Usually, players of his stature struggle to stay healthy and it can be a career-long battle to stay on the court for long stretches of time. Obviously, we don’t yet know how Wemby’s body will hold up in the NBA scene, but being flexible and agile is certainly a good way to prevent injuries in the future.

Victor Wembanyama Is The Future

At just 19 years old, the jury is still out on how good Wembanyama will actually become. From what we’ve seen of him in Europe and the Summer League, he’s got all the talent in the world to make a successful NBA career.

In 33 games for the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92, Victor averaged 21.6 points per game, 10.5 rebounds per game, and a whopping 3.1 blocks per game. Besides an impossibly long reach and textbook jumper, Wemby knows how to move his feet and he excels at getting to his spots and finding unique ways to put the ball through the net.

The best part of all regarding Victor is his mindset. Unlike many young risers today, the guy is committed to working on his game and helping his team win no matter the cost. “He is one of those players that you feel like he’s gonna be an iconic player,” said Lakers legend Jerry West. “He’s highly skilled. He can run, he can shoot threes, I think his best skill is going to be blocking shots early in his career.”

The Spurs Are Rising In The West

With just 22 wins total last season, the Spurs were tied for the worst record in the West and a quick look at the roster could explain why. At the time, the Spurs had practically no NBA-level talent aside from a few young players who were far from stars.

And while it was a tough season to endure, the Spurs hit the jackpot this summer when they got the first pick and used it on Wembanyama. Now, they have a chance to turn their entire situation around. With Victor, Jeremy Sochan, and Keldon Johnson leading the way, San Antonio has a solid cast of young stars who are more than capable of leading the franchise to the next level.

This upcoming season will be the first test of the new-look Spurs, and fans are eager to see how they perform. If Wemby is really as good as they say, he should be enough to make an instant impact on the floor.
