D’Angelo Russell has been a solid No. 3 option offensively for the Minnesota Timberwolves over the course of the last few seasons. He is well-known as a smooth shot creator who also has a knack for facilitating for his teammates. As of right now, D’Angelo Russell is averaging 17.2 PPG, 3.2 RPG, and 6.3 APG while shooting 36.2% from beyond the arc.

In a recent interview, we saw D’Angelo Russell throw some shade at the Minnesota Timberwolves amidst recent trade rumors. On top of the shot at the Timberwolves, Russell notably stated that he feels like he’s better than a lot of shooting guards and point guards around the league.

“You either take advantage of me and my ability, or f*ck up the opportunity with me. It’s as simple as that.”

“I’m an Alpha as well, you know what I mean? And I feel like I’m better than a lot of shooting guards and I’m better than a lot of point guards.”

Under a recent Twitter post, a number of NBA fans roasted D’Angelo Russell for saying that he’s better than a lot of guards in the league. Though he is a solid guard, most people would put a number of starters ahead of him.

Relax You’re not a top 15 PG or a top 10 SG lil bro

u been loading for a few years now

Still loading…

Why don’t you go out and let your game do the talking instead of trying to convince everyone otherwise

You not even top 10 guards in the league lil bro

I mean there are a lot of pg’s and sg’s that don’t get minutes on teams or play like 5 minutes max so I guess he right in thay regard lmao. He not top 15 or anything tho.

Can u address why you are at the bottom of basically every advanced defensive stat in the NBA for guards?

I’m the world? Yea absolutely. In the nba? A lot is a stretch

No. Offensively he’s what mid tier for both positions? Defensively less than average for both positions?

Bro you’re going to be a bench player soon

Your numbers say something else

He is better just not nba level point guards and shooting guards

says the guy who only scored 30 twice this season

Bro has 3 playoff wins in like 8 years

Confidence level of Michael Jordan and the ability of Kendrick Perkins

It remains to be seen if D’Angelo Russell will be able to prove to everyone that he should be considered one of the best players in the league. We will see how he does for the rest of the season. Russell is definitely a solid offensive player, and if his offensive play improves he could end up putting up similar numbers to what he did during his time with the Brooklyn Nets. That would certainly put him back in the conversation among the best PGs and SGs of the league.

The Miami Heat Are Interested In D’Angelo Russell

Even though he is no longer a top-tier star, it is clear that teams still value D’Angelo Russell. A recent report revealed that the Miami Heat are among the teams that want to move for the point guard.

The Heat have, in fact, registered interest in Russell, source told Yahoo Sports, but a direct deal for Lowry would appear unlikely. Lowry is just a few months away from entering the final season of his own contract worth roughly $30 million in average annual salary, and it’s hard to imagine Wolves officials being eager to extend the aging guard another exorbitant payday when he becomes extension eligible this summer — putting Minnesota in the exact situation it faced with Russell last July.

It will be interesting to see if the Miami Heat can acquire D’Angelo Russell before the trade deadline. Adding him would certainly improve their offense, which has been an area of concern this season.

The Miami Heat have been heavily involved in the trade market this year, and it is quite likely that we’ll see them make some sort of move in the near future. They still have a good team if they don’t trade anyone though, and we’ll have to wait to see what will happen in the future.
