NBA Fans Roasted Another Fan For Saying They Would Beat Charles Barkley Or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar In A 1-On-1 Matchup Today

The normal NBA fan understands that the athletes that make it to the league are miles better than any non-professional players. The end-of-bench players in the NBA would ball out against just about any player in the world. And the superstars that rise to the top that become the greatest are talents beyond what the normal person can even dream of.

Yet, this doesn’t stop some fans from claiming that they could go 1-on-1 against some of the greatest players of all time. Even out of their primes, years of muscle memory and innate talent means that superstars will always dominate amateur players. So when a fan posted on Reddit that they could take on Charles Barkley and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 1-on-1 as they are today, it led to some interesting reactions.

“From what I see on Inside The NBA I could possibly beat Chuck in a 1-on-1. Also pretty sure I could beat Kareem, as he is 75 years old.”

This was from a larger post asking other fans which Top 75 players they think they could beat currently. And while it may seem like a reasonable topic for discussion, the replies from other fans quickly made it clear that it was still a wild claim from the fan that posted it.

NBA Fans Think Kareem Abdul-Jabbar And Charles Barkley Currently Would Dominate Any Amateur Player

The reasoning for naming Kareem makes sense, the legendary center is quite old now. And Barkley is quite out of shape, as Inside The NBA often jokes about. But fans on Reddit think that they would still absolutely destroy the fan that posed the question.

“75-year-old Kareem can just stand there and skyhook. You don’t want any of that smoke.”

“This whole post is stupid. Barkley would back you down and you could do nothing.”

“These guys are all still like 6’6++ as well. Imagine thinking you could beat Kareem who is at worst still 7’0 just because he’s old.. He would send your shots into the bleachers and shoot over you like a traffic cone.”

“Bro is basing his whole post on clips of Charles Barkley attempting to play basketball while dressed in a three piece suit after sitting in front of a camera for hours.”

“There is no age I’m taking myself over Kareem.”

“This man said he’ll beat Kareem bro he would wash you at 95.”

“He doesn’t even need to skyhook, he’s 7 feet tall.”

“Bro you’d get rinsed.”

“This post is hilarious man, they would own you.”

“Chuck would destroy any one of us and then make us cry talking trash.”

The question isn’t entirely without merit, after a certain age, people will no longer be able to play sports. But it’s also a reminder of what truly elite stars basketball’s best players are if their fans still believe that they could beat most people 1-on-1 despite being way past their primes.
