The Minnesota Timberwolves surprisingly made it to the playoffs last season, and after that, the organization decided it was time to make a splash. They acquired Rudy Gobert in a blockbuster trade this past offseason but to say things aren’t working out would be an understatement.

They are currently down at 11th in the Western Conference with a 17-21 record and had lost 6 games in a row before finally beating the Denver Nuggets last time out. Tensions are rising inside the building, and Anthony Edwards is not a happy man at the moment, as per Timberwolves insider Darren Wolfson.

via Mackey & Judd – a Minnesota Sports Podcast on SKOR North (starts at 4:20 mark):

“There has definitely been some finger-pointing in that locker room. I had heard that Anthony Edwards hasn’t been real happy, now hopefully happy after last night. D’Angelo Russell, some finger-pointing going in that direction. Like is it just a coincidence, I get it’s just a one-game sample size, but they played really well last night, they moved the ball incredibly well and D’Angelo Russell didn’t play.”

You can’t blame Edwards for being unhappy with how the team was struggling. During that 6-game losing run, he was averaging an excellent 28.2 PPG on 51.6% shooting. Edwards started the season slowly, but he is getting into his own now, and he wants the rest of the team to step up as well. The D’Angelo Russell situation is one to keep an eye on as well, as there was a lot of finger-pointing in his direction. Wolfson had reported previously that the Heat were interested in Russell and the Timberwolves might be a bit more willing now to part with him.

The Timberwolves Players Are Frustrated With Rudy Gobert

Russell isn’t the only one who the team seems to have an issue with, as they are also frustrated with Gobert as per NBA insider Brian Windhorst. He stated that teammates and fans alike were frustrated with his turnovers, and his defense hasn’t been game-changing as they’d thought.

It just seems like a very messy situation at this point, and it is becoming increasingly unlikelier by the passing day that they’ll have any kind of success this season. The future seemed so bright after the 2021-22 campaign, but it seems like they have come back down to earth now.
