Bill Simmons Takes A Big Shot At Jalen Green While Leaving Him Out Of The All-Rookie First Team: “F*ck Jalen Green, I Don't Care That You’re Scoring 40 Points”

Jalen Green became one of the biggest stories in the NBA this season, showing flashes of what could be a successful career in the association. The Houston Rockets rookie is one of the biggest candidates to take the Rookie of the Year award this season alongside Cade Cunningham and Scottie Barnes.

Great as he's been, it seems like he's not convincing certain people that he's set to become a star in the league. After a first good campaign in the NBA, Green is expected to be selected on the All-Rookie First Team while finishing at least in the top 3 for the ROY.

Well, not many people think that way, and Bill Simmons is one of those. The controversial analyst doesn't think Green deserves that honor and recently placed a New Orleans Pelicans rookie over Jalen on his All-Rookie First Team. During today's episode of the Bill Simmons Podcast, the 52-year-old took a big shot at Green, saying it doesn't matter that he scores a lot of points since he's not a winning player.

"My guy Herb Jones," Simmons said. "I put him First Team All-Rookie, I put him over Jalen Green. Fuck Jalen Green, I don't care that you’re scoring 40 points. Congratulations. Herb Jones is guarding dudes in real games... Now the Houston people are gonna get mad at me. I like winning players, I'm sorry. Jalen Green will get there, it's just that his team was 21-61 this year, whatever."

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, even Simmons, but not a lot of people agreed with this one. Green can be a terrific player in the league and the No. 1 option for the Rockets. This is his first year and judging him based on what he does in his rookie season is too much.

Simmons has treated other guards this way. He said similar things about Devin Booker, Zach LaVine, Trae Young and more. Fortunately, all these players have become stars in the league. Hopefully, Green can do it too and prove the doubters wrong. The Rockets have an interesting group of players that could make some noise in the West in the future.
