Charles Barkley Says He’s Not Allowed To Mock ‘Good-Ole’ San Antonio Women On ‘Inside The NBA’ Anymore

Charles Barkley has always been a controversial figure in the NBA. He has never hesitated to make a couple of jokes and is not the one who minces words when talking about… well, anything.

For years, one of Barkley’s favorite topics has been San Antonio women. He’s often joked about them and their size, and that clearly hasn’t sat well with that community.

That’s why, as he recently admitted in an interview with 106.7 The Fan, the producers asked him to stop making fun of them on Inside The NBA:

“If you crack a joke the wrong way, they’re like, ‘Oh no, no, no, no, you crossed the line,’” said Barkley. “They won’t even let me talk about San Antonio anymore. When I’m always talking about them big ole women down in San Antonio. They’re like, ‘Charles, we got one lady wrote an article.’ I’m like, ‘First of all, I didn’t call anybody personally fat in San Antonio. I was just joking around, and when this one lady wrote this article, I’m like, ‘So y’all gonna let one lady.’ We been having fun with this for probably 10, 15 years, and when we go to San Antonio, the people are having a blast with it. The people in San Antonio, they had T-shirts made up.”

This was long overdue, to be honest, especially given the way the media deals with these kinds of issues nowadays.

Barkley’s old-school, harsh humor will rub a lot of people the wrong way in this era, and some believe it’s just a matter of time before ‘cancel culture’ gets to him.

Chuck’s basketball insight will always be appreciated and humor is one of the best parts – if not the best part – of his show but those jokes were just uncalled for 10 times out of 10.
