Chris Paul Reveals What His Son Sent Him After He Lost The Game 7 Against The Mavs: “Lets Get In The Gym.”

Chris Paul probably had one of the worst evenings of his career last night, as he was again poor in a Game 7 loss that sent the top-seeded Phoenix Suns careening out of the playoffs. The Point God looked like anything but, he was so bad, that fans were burning his jersey after the game. But the great thing about the NBA is that there is always a chance at redemption for those willing to work for it.

Paul is a family man, something that was a talking point in this series after fans in Dallas reportedly put their hands on his family. As such, he is also very close to his children, and it was his son, Christopher Emmanuel Paul II, that provided him with a silver lining on a terrible night.

CP revealed after the game that he received a text from his son after the game had ended, and the message is quite inspirational, especially considering that it’s going from a 12-year-old to his father:

Chris Paul: "I have a text from my son after the game saying, 'Lets get in the gym.'"

There are very few ways to recover from a loss like this, and spending time with family is among the best of them for the players who don’t often get the time to do so. Paul will surely go off on holiday for a while to get away from all the noise, but getting into the gym and working to go a step further next season will eventually be the priority.

This text also provides insight into the mentality CP3 has managed to instill into his son. There were arguably no reasons for the team to feel any pride after the way they were massacred in the biggest game of their season, but Pual can feel pride in knowing that he has cultivated a winning mentality in his child.
