Damian Lillard to the Los Angeles Lakers has been a common story around the NBA in the past couple of days. There are reasons why this partnership will make a lot of sense, even if the purple and gold need to maneuver to accommodate his contract with LeBron James and Anthony Davis’.
Lillard was spotted at a WNBA game with LeBron earlier this week, sparking more rumors about a potential arrival in Los Angeles. Although Lakers fans would love to see a Big 3 of James, Davis, and Lillard, it seems like the 2020 NBA champions will have to deal AD to Portland in exchange for the point guard.
Analyst Colin Cowherd believes the Lakers should make this move without hesitation, explaining why it’s a no-brainer for him. Dame is another player who can play for long periods, just like Bron, and the offense can run through him, which isn’t the case with AD.
“This is not a 5 year league anymore. It’s year-to-year,” he said. “I would do it tomorrow.”

Moreover, he claimed that given Davis’ history with injuries, this would be a better deal for the Lakers in the long term.
Fans recently discovered that Dame would’ve liked to play with the Lakers or Jazz if the Portland Trail Blazers didn’t draft him. This old tweet, plus his recent activity with LeBron, only fuels rumors about his landing in Los Angeles.
Nevertheless, it seems like the 17x NBA champions won’t have the chance to create a Big 3 with Dame. They’ll need to part with Davis if they even aspire to get the All-Star point guard.
