Dallas Mavericks Are Open To Trading Every Player Except Luka Doncic For An NBA Star

The Dallas Mavericks are willing to trade every player on the team, except Luka Doncic, as they look to add another star player to their roster.

The NBA trade deadline is less than 2 weeks away, and some teams are desperately looking for ways to improve their roster. One of them would happen to be the Dallas Mavericks, who have been under pressure to make a move for a while now.

The Mavericks haven’t done a great job of surrounding Luka Doncic with talented players, and whenever they have taken a step forward, they take one back. They acquired Christian Wood in a solid move in this past offseason, only to lose Jalen Brunson to the New York Knicks in free agency later on. It has been a frustrating few months for Mavs fans, with one of them drawing a “Please Send Help” mural in Dallas earlier this month. It would appear that the front office is trying its best to get some help, as everyone on the roster except for Doncic is available for trade.

Wild news: Mavs are open to trading just about anyone not named Luka Doncic for a star player.

Teams have asked for Dorian Finney-Smith in the past and Mavs have quickly countered and made a deal not involving DFS, so hold onto your butts bc the deadline is still 10 days away.

“Wild news: Mavs are open to trading just about anyone not named Luka Doncic for a star player.”

“Teams have asked for Dorian Finney-Smith in the past and Mavs have quickly countered and made a deal not involving DFS, so hold onto your butts bc the deadline is still 10 days away.”

Except for Luka, all of those players are really expendable. The question, though, is whether any package they put together will be enough to get a star player. They aren’t the only ones on the lookout to make a splash before the deadline, and if a star does become available, quite a few teams will be coming in with offers. The Mavs do have multiple first-round picks to offer along with their players, but even that might fall short of what teams would be looking for.

The Mavericks Could Lose Christian Wood This Summer

Brunson’s departure last year has ended up becoming a big blow to the Mavs, as he has been excellent for the Knicks. They had multiple chances to sign him to an extension last season but didn’t do it, and some fine displays in the postseason meant he got a sizeable deal in free agency.

Now, Wood has been eligible for an extension since December 24, but no deal has been agreed on yet. If no agreement is reached, then Wood would become a free agent this summer and would leave with no compensation, just like Brunson. Owner Mark Cuban said the Mavs would like to keep Wood, but we’ll see how things pan out in the coming months.
