The Portland Trail Blazers started the 2022-23 NBA season with some expectations after a terrible 2021-22 campaign. With the return of Damian Lillard, the addition of Jerami Grant via trade, Shaedon Sharpe landing via draft, and Anfernee Simmons ready to prove his value, this team appeared to have something interesting in hand.

So far, they’ve struggled to meet the expectations, although they were a top squad during the first month of competition. Now, they rank 11th on the standings, trying to catch up with the Utah Jazz for the last spot in the play-in tournament.

Still, the Blazers surely hoped to have a better presence at this time of the season, and Damian Lillard is well aware of that. Following a disappointing 109-106 loss to the Orlando Magic, the point guard talked about the current situation of the team and reminded everybody of what they must do to start winning games.

Damian Lillard Wants To See Some Changes On The Portland Trail Blazers

Talking with reporters following the game, Dame spoke about the issues of the team, blaming inconsistency as the main reason why they can’t start winning games on the regular.

“I think right now we just struggle in being consistent,” said Lillard. “We’re in a ditch right now as far as that and it’s where you got to be mentally tough. You gotta be able to not like these moments, but you gotta be able to deal with them and just keep pushing forward.”

During the final seconds of the game, his teammates ignored Lillard, which is a big shock considering how important he is for the team and his clutch gene. Hopefully, this isn’t the start of something bad for the Trail Blazers. Dame is the heart and soul of this team, and when he speaks, everybody must listen.
