Prior to his trade from the Philadelphia 76ers, Ben Simmons was actively sitting out games for the team. It was clear that he never wanted to play for the 76ers again. Now though, the 76ers have James Harden, who is one of the best guards in the league. There is no question that many fans in Philadelphia are excited to see a James Harden-Joel Embiid duo.

Danny Green has recently expressed his excitement about the James Harden trade but also threw some shade at Ben Simmons in the process. Green claimed that the team is “happy to have an All-Star point guard that wants to play”, obviously referring to the games that Simmons has skipped for the team.

Danny Green’s reaction to the Harden trade:

“We’re just happy to have an All-Star point guard that wants to play.”

“We’re just happy to have an All-Star point guard that wants to play.”

There is no question that the Philadelphia 76ers were still a good team while Ben Simmons was sitting out, but obviously, they would have been a better team if he were to play. It makes sense that someone like Danny Green would be happy about having a teammate that is actually willing to suit up next to him and help the team win more games.

Tyrese Maxey also expressed excitement about James Harden joining the Philadelphia 76ers previously, claiming that James Harden and Joel Embiid are “2 MVP-caliber players”, and that he “can’t wait” to share the court with them.

“It’s 2 MVP-caliber players, on top of what we have here already. I think one thing that’s really going to help us – the chemistry, and the brotherhood that we have here… It’s going to be great. I can’t wait.”

Losing two key role players in Andre Drummond and Seth Curry definitely hurts for the Philadelphia 76ers, but they have definitely become a far better team. They have gained shot creation and playmaking by acquiring James Harden, both areas in which they needed to improve.

The Philadelphia 76ers are now real contenders with the addition of James Harden. They have two superstars, and perhaps we’ll see them go all the way and win a championship this season.
