As a 12x All-Star, 11x All-NBA player, and one of the greatest point guards the game has ever seen, Chris Paul doesn’t need a championship to consider himself among the greatest point guards to ever play the game.

Unlike a lot of his peers, Chris lets his game do the talking, and his play has resulted in some amazing moments on the court.

Unfortunately for Paul, his game and career just so happen to be among the most divisive topics in the sport. While some consider him a top-five point guard in league history, there are others who scoff at the notion CP3 deserves to go over guys like Russell Westbrook or Steve Nash.

DeMarcus Cousins is one such individual, and he recently made it known to the world how he feels about the conversation.

“It’s Chris Paul,” Cousins said. “Every time I hear a top five PG list, Chris Paul is in it. And I’m not really understanding why. No knock to C.P., strictly from an accolades and a performance standpoint, I don’t think Chris Paul is top five.”

Where Does Chris Paul Rank Among The Greatest Point Guards Ever?

Chris Paul lacks some of the major accomplishments of Magic, Curry, and Isiah Thomas, but he’s probably the greatest pure point guard this game has ever seen. As an elite playmaker and gifted passer, CP’s game has always revolved around elevating others and it’s one of the few things that sets him apart from everyone else.

While Boogie may not believe in Paul as a top-five point guard ever, Vince Carter has another view on the matter.

“If he’s not in the top five, he’s on the way,” said Vince on Chris Paul. “He’s making a case for it right now. He’s 35-36 and what he’s done. Some people say he’s reinvented himself. I think he’s just gotten new life and fresh air. I mean, he likes the talent, he has a lot of talent around him. You out the right talent around CP3. You have shooters, you have defenders, and then he’s going out there and he’s still scoring and being Chris Paul that we’ve known and loved. It’s hard to say who’s in the top five in my opinion. I’d like to wait till it’s all said and done. I think when it’s all said and done and he’s done playing, he’ll be right there.”

No doubt, Chris Paul has to be part of the conversation when talking about some of the best point guards the game has ever seen.

Until he gets a ring, he will never be considered number one — which is why it’s more important than ever for the Suns to end this losing streak and get back to playing their brand of basketball.
