Sometimes in the league, teammates can have issues with one another. There can be a variety of causes for that, but there is no doubt that tensions can run high in the locker room.

It was recently reported that Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert were “at each other’s throats” and that their relationship is “passively-aggressively awkward”. The Utah Jazz have notably been struggling over the last few weeks, but have recently gotten back on track with wins against the Nuggets and the Nets.

“Gobert and Mitchell have been at each other’s… I don’t know if I can say at each other’s throats,” said Brian Windhorst.

“It’s back to being passively aggressively awkward,” interjected Tim MacMahon.

“It’s the most underplayed story in the league, I think,” continued Windhorst. “The Jazz are struggling a lot. This team had big expectations and they’re getting passed by frankly. They are not on the level they were a year ago. Donovan and Gobert, even though they’re both under long-term contract, are under each other’s skin. There’s all kind of subtweeting and passive aggressive stuff going on.”

Donovan Mitchell has responded to reports about there being tension between him and Rudy Gobert. Mitchell said that the two are “good”, and added that the reports are “just not true”.

Donovan Mitchell on reports that he and Rudy Gobert are beefing again: no, no, no, no, no….we’re good. That’s just not true

There is no doubt that Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell are a stellar duo, and they were the No. 1 seed just last season. While there has been some tension between the two in the past, it seems as though the two are over that. The goal for the duo now is to win a championship.

The Utah Jazz aren’t viewed as a top-tier contender, but there’s no doubt that they’re a good team that is stout defensively. Hopefully, we see them make a deep playoff run this year, and perhaps we’ll see them make it past the second-round of the Western Conference.
