Russell Westbrook has struggled time and again this season, with most of the headlines surrounding him being negative. Westbrook's incredibly poor performances especially after All-Star Break hadn't made the situation any better, but he finally had a moment to savor in a Lakers jersey on Friday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers played the Toronto Raptors, and Westbrook, who's not known for his three-point shooting or being clutch, got a crucial steal and drained a three-pointer with just 4 seconds left in the game to send them to OT and allow the Lakers to seal a much-needed win. This was quite the unexpected turn of events considering that he has looked so out of sorts recently, and the Lakers fans loved it, but they weren't the only ones with a brilliant reaction.
As he often is, the iconic Drake was in attendance for a Raptors game and he couldn't quite believe it, with his shocked reaction getting captured on camera as Russ ran down the court in celebration.
The picture is quite incredible and understandably went viral considering how much media attention Westbrook's situation has garnered this season. Some fans still had a few shots to take at Russ, but most thought Drake's reaction was an excellent example of how they felt.
Richiethe4th: "Drake is every Lakers fan."
waniebop1: "Prolly saying 'Ohhhhhh shit about f***ing time'."
kabzagraphics: "Literally everyone's reaction."
El Poeta: "People are legitimately stunned he made that shot lmao."
Laker Looney: "I'm glad that Westbrook had the presence of mind to make that steal and he hit a nice 3."
Junior Maruwa: "Drake looks like Bucum from All About The Benjamins."
troy: "Pic of the year."
Jett: "Need this on a poster."
JAyP: "No cap this pic raw af."
Zoltch: "I think we were all shook by that one."
Benoi: "Even the Raptor fan applauding that clutch shot happy for Russ he deserves it."
Westbrook recorded a triple-double to go along with his clutch play in the game, scoring 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Russ is known for catching fire late in the season and while this might be a bit too late, if he can build on this performance, there is a slim chance for him to turn around the narrative about himself and his stint in Los Angeles.
