The Boston Celtics fans have been one of the biggest talking points coming out of the Game 3 win that the Celtics had over the Golden State Warriors. TD Garden fans are always considered to be one of the harshest groups in the NBA, but Draymond Green had a pretty rough experience with them.
In a very disappointing individual showing for the Warriors in the loss, Green was being booed mercilessly by the fans even though he wasn’t having a massive impact on the court proceedings in Game 3. Chants of ‘F**k Draymond’ went roaring through the arena, as Draymond’s teammate Klay Thompson and wife Hazel criticized the Celtics fans for their behavior.
Draymond himself has addressed the situation, attacking Boston fans and saying even Cleveland fans knew how to boo someone better.
“If it bothered me, I wouldn’t bring (my son). But he has to know, because he may be in this position one day. And if so, I’m going to sit right in the stands and watch him. And I’m going to say, ‘F— them’ back,” Draymond Green on the Celtics fans’ taunts. https://t.co/A3CW7Ry4pl

“Because you’re in their head. It’s all how you look at it. They’re going to spend all their time focused on me, then clearly, you’re living rent-free in their head. It’s all in their head. I really don’t pay attention to what they say. But the loudness of it … I haven’t heard it louder than in Cleveland. … Cleveland was way louder and [the fans] also say something. Cleveland people are more reckless and ruthless.”
“They are not wasting their time with anybody. And I will feed off of them Friday,” Green said.
The Celtics fans may have motivated Green into finding his form ahead of Game 4, as the Warriors forward has struggled tremendously on the court all series long. If the fan treatment in Game 3 is the catalyst for Draymond to improve, Celtics fans may regret how they treated him.
The argument to say the fans got into his head is pretty strong, considering the reactions it has generated from people around him. Draymond has been through worse and needs to use something to channel more consistent play. Otherwise, the Warriors may not stand a chance in Game 4.
