Draymond Green On The Warriors Potentially Being A Play-In Team: “I Feel Sorry For Whoever The No. 1 Or No. 2 Seed Is…”

Draymond Green says he would feel sorry for the no. 1 or no. 2 seed in the Western Conference if the Warriors end up in the play-in spots.

Draymond Green has his deficiencies on the court but if there is one thing he doesn’t lack at all, it is confidence. Green is one of the cockiest players in the NBA and rightfully so, considering all the success that he and the Golden State Warriors have enjoyed.

All that success is what makes this 2022-23 season even weirder, as the Warriors have looked like a shell of their former selves. They have just a 15-18 record and to make matters worse, lost Stephen Curry to an injury recently in a game against the Indiana Pacers and he isn’t coming back for a while. There is now a real possibility that the Warriors would be a play-in team at the end of the season and when Draymond was asked about it, he had a typical response.

via San Francisco Chronicle:

“I feel sorry for whoever’s the No. 1 or No. 2 seed if we’re in a play-in situation,” he said. “That would suck (for them). Is Steph Curry still on this team? Klay? Me? Wiggins? Looney? Jordan? I think we’ll be fine.”

He is absolutely right, as the top 2 seeds would not want to face the Warriors in the first round with all the talent and experience on that roster. You would back Golden State to sort out their issues when we get to the business end of the season but you’d still like to see them play a bit better right now.

The Warriors Might Be Making Some Moves

The Warriors are trying to do something this season that not many teams have successfully managed to do in the history of the NBA. They are title contenders who are also looking to develop their young players and that is a very difficult task. We have seen the likes of James Wiseman struggle to perform and the team might finally decide to part ways with some of their youngsters.

The Warriors are one of four teams that could land Toronto’s Gary Trent Jr. and they have also been linked with Bulls guard Alex Caruso. The latter, in particular, would be a great fit and would help fill the void left by the departure of Gary Payton II.
