EuroBasket finally came to an end as Spain defeated a stacked French team in a thrilling Final. With Juancho Hernangomez leading the way with his 27 points, Spain was in cruise control early in the game. While France did try to rally back with guard Evan Fournier stepping up, it wasn’t enough as they lost the game 88-76.
This edition of EuroBasket certainly had its fair share of star power. With the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, and Nikola Jokic, who are often considered among the best in the NBA participating, EuroBasket was the go-to competition for basketball fans this offseason. While Doncic, Giannis, and Jokic might be dominant in the NBA, they surely didn’t have a similar amount of success in the tournament, as the three only reached the quarters before crashing out.
EuroBasket Team Of The Tournament Announced
After the exciting EuroBasket tournament came to a close, recently the team of the tournament was announced. While many might have expected to see the names Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic on the team sheet, surprisingly, both the stars missed out on the tournament’s best team.
Rather, the team is as follows: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece), Lorenzo Brown (Spain), Rudy Gobert (France), Willy Hernangomez (Spain) and Dennis Schroder (Germany).

Giannis is certainly an exception in the list as he is the only player in the list whose team did not finish in the top 3. Despite Greece’s early exit, ‘The Greek Freak’ was unleashed during the tournament. Torching defenses, Giannis unsurprisingly finished as the best scorer of the tournament.
Spain’s Willy Hernangomez and Lorenzo Brown make it to the team, while Rudy Gobert and Dennis Schroder complete the team. The EuroBasket certainly showcased that it is not one or two individuals who dictate the game, rather, a cohesive unit is necessary for success.
