Brian Windhorst On Donovan Mitchell And Rudy Gobert's Relationship: "They Have Been At Each Other’s… I Don’t Know If I Can Say At Each Other’s Throats."

The Utah Jazz have struggled a bit this year, and are only the 4th seed this season as compared to the 1st as last season. However, there's no doubt that they're still a good defensive team that can lockdown other teams' offenses down night in and night out.

Previously, it was rumored that there was some discontent in the Utah Jazz locker room. Brian Windhorst of ESPN claimed that Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell were "at each other's throats".

"Gobert and Mitchell have been at each other's... I don't know if I can say at each other's throats," said Brian Windhorst.

"It's back to being passively aggressively awkward," interjected Tim MacMahon.

"It's the most underplayed story in the league, I think," continued Windhorst. "The Jazz are struggling a lot. This team had big expectations and they're getting passed by frankly. They are not on the level they were a year ago. Donovan and Gobert, even though they're both under long-term contract, are under each other's skin. There's all kind of subtweeting and passive aggressive stuff going on."

While Donovan Mitchell denied that he and Rudy Gobert were beefing again, the reports about unhappiness in the Utah Jazz locker room keep spreading. Howard Beck has recently claimed that the "tensions that are in that locker room" might actually be "a little worse than what we've been led to believe".

“They’re in trouble because this thing has run its course and we know there are some tensions that are in that locker room…I’ve been told recently that they might be a little worse than we’ve even been led to believe.”

It remains to be seen if there will be more reports about this situation. The Utah Jazz have won their last 5 games though, so if there are issues currently, they're clearly not affecting the team.

Hopefully, we see the Utah Jazz make a good playoff run this year. They have faltered there in seasons past, even blowing a 2-0 lead to the Los Angeles Clippers last season. But this season could still turn out differently, and there's no doubt that they have a solid competitive squad.
