Joel Embiid And Andre Drummond Embrace For The First Time As Teammates After Longstanding Feud

2 Min Read

After stints in Cleveland and Los Angeles, Andre Drummond is starting a new chapter of his career in Philadelphia, where he will act as a backup center behind 4x All-Star Joel Embiid.

And while it’s a solid acquisition for the Sixers, the best part of the signing came after, when Embiid and his newest teammate embraced for the first time since the signing.

What makes the whole thing even better is the fact that the two players used to have a bit of a rivalry back in the day.

Back in 2018, Drummond called Jo “fat and out of shape” after a dramatic, on-court scuffle during a game.

The fact that their teammates now is quite an interesting twist, and fans had fun with it on Twitter.

While there is some debate, it does seem like both players are ready to bury their beef and work together to lift Philly to new heights in the East.

The question is, will Drummond make a difference?

Despite being a multiple-time All-Star, Dre has been tossed around over the past few years, thanks largely to his outdated playstyle and one-dimensional game.

During his most recent stint with the Lakers, Drummond averaged 11.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1 block per game on 53% shooting.

For a team that has been stuck in the middle over the past few years, they haven’t yet made that move to put them over the top. Whether or not it will come anytime soon remains to be seen.

For now, though, they’ll just have to hope for the best from ‘Dre.
